Why Do Amish Cabinets of Texas Have Houston TX Best Cabinets?
Our variety of high-quality materials, excellent service, and attention to detail are unmatched. All of our cabinetry is measured precisely to 1/8 of an inch to ensure safety and functionality. In our free design process, we render 3D scaled models that allow your renovation dreams to come to life. And, if you decide not to move forward with us after receiving your estimate, any plans and models are yours to keep at no cost. Actually, the entire process from your showroom tour to your estimate is completely free! All you pay for is the building and cabinet installation process.
During the design process, you will have many important decisions to make, allowing you to customize every element of your new cabinetry. These options will start with your selection of high-quality furniture grade woods and be as specific as the hardware placed at the end of the building process.
Furthermore, our cabinetry is low maintenance, American made, perfectly fitted, professionally installed, and built to last for generations to come.
What Is Unique About Amish Cabinets?
Amish cabinetry is unique for two reasons: the use of hand-selected hardwoods and the lack of joining devices such as nails and screws. The early Amish had an aversion to such technologies and so created ways of interlocking wooden pieces in their stead. At Amish Cabinets of Texas, we use multiple of such joint types, including miter lock, dovetail, dado, and square joints.
Your choice of joinery is particularly important in the customization of your door panels and drawer boxes. You can see more detailed information about how joint style impacts door panel design that here.
We also use two different joint styles in our drawer boxes, each with their own unique aesthetic and function – the miter lock joint and the dovetail joint.
The miter lock joint is named after the Mitre, the pointed hat Bishops of the Catholic Church wear. This joint uses two beveled edges that come together to form a corner. This type of joint is often criticized for its weakness. However, our use of the joint amplifies the strength of cabinet drawers and doors.
The dovetail joint was originally created as a substitution for wood glues. In this joint type, edges of wooden pieces tapered in an alternating pattern fitting snugly together. We utilize this joint type in our drawer boxes, which we then reinforce with a dado or slide-in joint for increased stability.

Wood Choice Benefits
Amish Cabinets of Texas offers several hand-selected wood options, including hickory, maple, cherry walnut, and mahogany. You will also have the opportunity to choose your secondary wood, the wood used for drawer boxes, from a high-quality selection. Contact us for more information on your options and how these decisions can impact the affordability of your completed design.
Hickory is one of the most durable woods we have available. This wood is resistant to stains and damages while requiring minimal maintenance. Your maple options have a similar strength at a lower price. This price, however, does not mean you sacrifice on looks. We hand-select our maple options for their beautiful grain patterns. Our cherry walnut options are the best choice if you are considering a more intricate or carved look on your cabinetry. And finally, our mahogany choices, while on the more expensive side, are incredibly durable and waterproof.
Our expert team hand-select each option to ensure the highest possible quality within the furniture-grade of each type of hardwood. Visit our showroom to view samples of each wood in person and discuss the affordability and customizable features of each wood with our experts.
